What we install, and where
More than half of new EV charger jobs in Málaga now go into community garages, not detached villas — apartments with allocated parking spaces in shared underground or street-level garages. Each scenario has different paperwork, different cable routes, and different metering. We handle all three:
- Detached villas and townhouses — typically the cleanest install. Wallbox in the garage or external wall, dedicated circuit from the consumer unit, RCD type-A or type-B as the wallbox specifies. 7.4 kW single-phase is standard; 11–22 kW three-phase if the supply allows.
- Community garages — wallbox at your assigned space, sub-meter or individual meter so you pay for your own consumption, fire-rated cable tray, written notice to the comunidad. Most installs are non-controversial; we have done them in buildings as old as 1970 in La Malagueta and Carretera de Cádiz.
- Businesses and holiday lets — multi-charger installations with load management so the contracted potencia is not exceeded. Universal Type 2 chargers usually preferred (compatible with every EV brand). RFID activation or app-based metering for guest billing.
- Solar-paired installs — wallboxes that prioritise excess solar production, compatible with Fronius, SolarEdge, Huawei and other inverters common in Andalucía.
What's included
- Pre-install survey: meter check, supply type, cable route, wallbox positioning.
- Dedicated circuit from the consumer unit, sized for the wallbox you choose.
- Type-A or type-B RCD as required by the wallbox manufacturer (most modern units integrate it; older chargers need an external one).
- Wallbox itself — supplied at sensible markup or you can supply it yourself.
- Cable run with surface trunking or chase, depending on aesthetics and access.
- Boletín eléctrico (CIE) renewed if the supply or installation has changed.
- MOVES grant technical pack: photos, certificate of installation, supply diagram.
- Commissioning and a 30-minute walkthrough in English or Spanish — Wi-Fi setup, app, RFID cards.
The MOVES grant — what we do, and what you do
MOVES III subsidises a portion of the cost of buying and installing an EV charger for both residents and businesses across Andalucía. The amount and conditions change every plan cycle, so we tell you the current state when you call.
- What we provide — the technical pack the grant requires: boletín, photos of the installation in progress and finished, manufacturer certificates, written quote and invoice, supply diagram. All filed in the format the Junta accepts.
- What you do — sign the application and submit it through the Junta portal, or use a gestor (we can recommend one in Málaga who handles MOVES daily and charges a flat fee).
- Timing — the grant pays after installation, often months later. Plan your cashflow accordingly; we are happy to start work knowing the grant comes later.
Common questions before you order
- Where will it live? Garage wall, exterior wall, pillar in a community garage. Photos help us quote remotely.
- Distance from the meter? Affects cable cost more than anything else. Up to ~25m we usually quote without a survey.
- Single phase or three phase? If you have AC and an induction hob and the meter says "II" or "III" — three phase. We can confirm on the call.
- Branded or universal? If you only own one EV brand, the manufacturer wallbox sometimes includes app features that are nice to have. Otherwise universal is more flexible.
- Will you replace it eventually? Wallbox technology is moving fast. Mounting brackets are usually compatible across generations — we install with that in mind.
